This decline in Bitcoin mining has canceled out the previous increase after the difficulty recalculation in December.
During the last recalculation on January 3, mining difficulty adjusted by 3.6%, to 34.1 T. This is evidenced by BTC.com data.
The decrease in mining difficulty was mainly due to deteriorating weather conditions in the US and a winter storm, which caused equipment shutdowns in Texas and other US states.
Despite a short-term correction, the difficulty level is still 40% higher than last year (24.4 T). The computing power of the Bitcoin network continues to grow, even despite a significant decline in its fiat value (by 65%) over the past year.
