Ether (ETH) soared above $2,000 after the Shanghai fork. The result of this run was an increase in the altcoin dominance index.
In parallel, the share of bitcoin in the cryptocurrency market decreased by about 1% to 46.4%. ETH dominance has risen to 19.8%.
According to BTCTools.io, over the past 24 hours, the share of altcoin has increased by 1%, while the Bitcoin dominance index, on the contrary, has decreased by about the same amount.
Since the beginning of 2023, Ethereum’s market share has increased by 7.6%.
Bitcoin has skyrocketed over 70% in the last three months. At the beginning of this week, its market share reached 48.8%. The dominance of BTC has risen sharply after the digital currency jumped above $30,000. Since the beginning of the year, this figure has added about 13.6%.
The index is calculated by ratio of the capitalization of an asset to the total value of all cryptocurrencies, which currently stands at $1.33 trillion.
Ethereum over the past day has grown by 10.25%. At its peak, the altcoin reached $2,122, an 11-month high.
Bitcoin added about 2% in value in 24 hours, and at the time of publication of this material, it was trading at $30,862.
