Ethereum doubles bounty program ahead of Shanghai

The maximum reward for found vulnerabilities in Shanghai/Capella (Shapella) doubled from $250,000 to $500,000 before the April 12 hard fork. This decision was made by the Ethereum Foundation following a meeting of developers.

The upgrade involves the implementation EIP-4895 – proposals to improve the main network, which involves opening the possibility for users to withdraw funds from staking.

Organization bounty program covers vulnerabilities in various aspects of the network, including the Proof-of-Stake consensus algorithm, its integrity, and network security.

As part of the event, engineer Paritosh Jayanti announced plans for a final shadow hard fork after the release of the final versions of the client software.

The Ethereum Foundation called on node operators to update the software in the remaining days before Shapella.

On March 14, the developers activated Shapella on the Goerli testnet, which was the final check for updates. This was preceded by a similar move at Sepolia.

Recall that CryptoQuant analysts questioned the massive sales of ETH after Shapella.

Earlier, Binance Research analysts calculated that only 31% of Ethereum stakers are “in the black” relative to the current market quotes.
