Investment bank Goldman Sachs filed a patent application for registration of a solution that integrates blockchain technologies into the mechanism of interbank settlements.

According to the documents, it is based on smart contracts applied to financial instruments. The latter include fractional reserve banking, insurance, bonds, tokenized products, and margin loans.

The patent aims to facilitate the execution of transactions in a networked computing environment suitable for submitting token claims. This is the purpose of the system architecture.

Earlier it became known that the institution is ready to invest in crypto projects, the valuation of which has decreased after the collapse of FTX.

According to Matthew McDermott, head of digital assets, the company intends to expand staff units with the current 70 employees.

Recall that in June 2022, Goldman Sachs introduced non-deliverable forwards (NDF) based on Ethereum. The London-based company Marex Financial acted as a partner in the initiative.
