Judge of the Southern District of New York Lewis Kaplan granted the request of the US Department of Justice, prohibiting Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) from contacting former or current employees of FTX or Alameda Research. This is reported Reuters.

According to the ruling, SBF also can’t use apps with encryption functionality, including Signal.

In late January, prosecutors said that Bankman-Fried tried to contact Ryan Miller, the exchange’s current US general counsel. The statement also referred to other similar cases.

Lawyers for the ex-head of FTX opposed petitions of the US Department of Justice, suggesting that current and former employees of the exchange and Alameda, including Caroline Ellison, Gary Wang and Nishad Singh, be excluded from his circle of contacts.

“Although [сторона защиты] seeks to ensure that the court interpreted this message favorably, this does not seem convincing, at least on a preliminary basis, ”Kaplan emphasized.

Earlier, SBF lawyers were unable to obtain a ban on the disclosure of two unnamed bail guarantors. The court granted the relevant request of the leading media group.

Recall that in January, FTX lawyers asked permission to call Bankman-Fried, his family and some former top managers of the company.
