Kazakhstan tightens control over crypto exchanges

The authorities of Kazakhstan are stepping up the fight against cryptocurrency exchanges that violate the laws of the country.

Law enforcement agencies have blocked the work of several exchangers that do not have a license. Each blockchain company must register with the Astana International Financial Center and serve customers only under a special legal regime.

The Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) announced on Monday that it is tightening its oversight of bitcoin exchanges. The regulator announced an adjustment to the licensing system for Digital Asset Trading Facility (DATF) trading platforms.

He presented the corresponding document for public discussion. The new measure will improve the security of digital currency holders. The decision to tighten control over exchanges was made after the collapse of FTX and its Alameda Research structure.

The regulator plans to tighten the liquidity requirements for trading companies and the procedure for disclosing financial information.

The public discussion will last until the end of February. After that, the regulator will choose the most optimal version of the regulatory framework, designed to ensure both consumer safety and transparency of transactions with virtual currencies.
