Twitter adds share buying feature via eToro

The social network Twitter has added a service for trading shares and other assets on its platform. The feature is implemented in collaboration with eToro, the publication reports. CNBC.

In the fall of 2022, immediately after the purchase of Twitter, Elon Musk set himself the task of turning the social network into a so-called “super app” that offers financial services to users.

The new service will allow users to view market charts, buy and sell stocks and other assets through eToro. Already, Twitter provides the ability to view charts of financial assets in real time using the “cashtags” function (cashtags). The user can view TradingView data through the API. It is enough to enter “$” and the ticker of the asset in the search box (for example, $AAPL – shares of Apple Inc).

The partnership with eToro will significantly expand the list of available cashtags. In particular, the main cryptocurrencies and derivatives available on the platform will appear on the list.

“In the past few years, we have expanded significantly and see more of our users interacting with each other on Twitter and learning how to trade the markets. Twitter has high-quality content, real-time posts about the company’s financial analysis, news from around the world. We believe this partnership will enable us to reach an audience and connect the Twitter and eToro brands,” said Yoni Assia, CEO of eToro.

eToro was founded in 2007 in Israel. It is an online brokerage company that allows users to buy and sell stocks, cryptocurrencies, and index funds. One of the most popular features of the platform allows people to mimic the trading strategies of other traders. According to Aisia, the company has over 32 million registered users from Europe, Asia and the United States.
