Twitter is awaiting regulatory approval to implement payments, including cryptocurrencies, in the foreseeable future. It is reported by the Financial Times.
According to the publication, the social platform has applied for a license and is developing the corresponding software. The initiative is being implemented by the company as part of Elon Musk’s plan to turn Twitter into a “super app”.
Initially, the payment option will target fiat currencies, but it will include the possibility of integrating digital assets.
In November 2022, Musk closed the deal to buy Twitter for $44 billion.
After that, the billionaire shared presentation slides of the platform upgrade, which allowed for the option of payments in cryptocurrencies.
